North County Recreation District will be celebrating happy holidays after the Tillamook County Board of Commissioners granted NCRD $1.7 million in TLT (transient lodging tax) funds for the new pool project at their meeting Wednesday December 4, 2024. NCRD had approached the commissioners about the possibility of securing TLT funds to help fill the gap needed to complete the project.
“Our heartfelt thank you to the county commissioners for providing this grant to help bring the pool project to completion,” said NCRD executive director Barbara McCann. “We continue to pursue additional funds to help with the increased costs and this grant provides a needed vote of confidence that we will get this done.”
“We are extremely happy and humbled at the county’s generous support for our project. On behalf of the district and the community we serve, we’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the Commissioners,” stated the NCRD Board.
NCRD has funded the pool project through savings, a district bond measure, and a robust fundraising campaign, that has raised nearly $2 million of the additional funds. There will remain a need for continued fundraising to bring the new aquatic center fully online, for commissioning, equipment and supplies.
When you are doing your year-end giving, please consider a donation to NCRD. The pool and all the programs at NCRD provide a tremendous community benefit and a historic legacy. For more information about NCRD and to donate, go to www.ncrd.org/new-aquatics-facility.
