Tillamook County would like to thank the heroes of last week’s winter storm, which unexpectedly dumped over a foot of snow in parts of the county. While kids and kids-at-heart enjoyed snow days, others worked around the clock to restore power, clear roads, man emergency warming shelters and help neighbors in need. A heartfelt thank you to the Tillamook County Road Department, Tillamook PUD, city public works departments, ODOT, staff and volunteers from CARE Inc, the Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay, and the South County Emergency Preparedness team, first responders of all kinds and the good neighbors who helped clear driveways and parking lots. Tillamook County really shines as a place where people go to extraordinary lengths to help one another. Again, we thank you all.
Road closure update 2/27/23: Cape Lookout Road remains closed. Tillamook County Roads Department crews are onsite clearing fallen trees from the roadway and could be working there for a few more days. Cape Lookout Road is the only road in the county still closed due to the storm.
