Sandlake Road is closed between Tierra Del Mar and Pacific City due to a landslide. On December 20th, Tillamook County Public Works and GeoStablization, Inc. (GSI) agreed that using soil nails will restore usability of the uphill lane. Soil nails have been applied on Hwy 101 near Port Orford under similar conditions. Construction is anticipated to start in mid-January and finish by mid-March and both northbound & southbound traffic will be accommodated by using signals following construction. The uphill lane repair will not be load posted. GSI has completed similar projects on Hwy 101 for ODOT.
A solution to restore both lanes is currently being evaluated by Haley Aldrich. Tillamook County Public Works has worked with their geotechnical engineers on previous slides. The full repair has not been determined, the costs are unknown and a schedule for construction to restore both lanes has not been determined. Reconnaissance and initial designs for both solutions started on December 7th and December 8th. Use Hwy 101 as the detour.
