The OSU Extension Service – Tillamook County proudly announces the significant achievements of the Master Gardener™ Learning Garden, a cornerstone of community service, education, and sustainable gardening in Tillamook County. This year, the program has exemplified an extraordinary commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
In partnership with the Tillamook County Fairgrounds and conveniently located across the parking lot from the main office, the Master Gardener™ Learning Garden has become a vibrant center of activity and learning. Demonstrating remarkable dedication, the program has accumulated over 1,100 volunteer service hours, with 38 volunteers dedicating more than 87 days. These efforts have been pivotal in maintaining the garden and facilitating a broad spectrum of educational opportunities.
In a effort to combat food scarcity, the Learning Garden has provided a substantial 600 pounds of food to the Oregon Food Bank. This contribution highlights the program’s dedication to addressing food insecurity and supporting those in need in our community.
The Learning Garden is more than a garden; it is a center for educational instruction and research-based garden demonstrations. It showcases various methods and types of plants that thrive in Tillamook County, offering essential insights to gardeners of all skill levels.
Looking forward, the OSU Extension Service – Tillamook County Master Gardener™ Program remains dedicated to expanding its educational outreach, increasing its contribution to food security, and continuing as a model of sustainable gardening and community service. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers, educators, and community members who have contributed to the success of this program.
