April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. This nationwide effort is to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving, and change driving behavior through legislation, enforcement, public awareness, and education – the same efforts that have curbed drunk driving and increased seat belt use.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2021 there were 3,522 people killed and an estimated additional 362,415 people injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving distracted drivers.
During the month, your Tillamook Police Department will be actively looking for drivers using a mobile electronic device. Please focus on the road and do your part to drive safely on our roads.
