“OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 is ready to put this contract dispute behind us, just as soon as the school district stops throwing up roadblocks to job protections we are legally entitled to and common-sense, reasonable tweaks to our benefits. At the end of the day, we just want to keep our talented, dedicated classified staff here in Tillamook, so they can continue to provide the quality education our students deserve,” said Kau’i Woolfolk, OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 President. “It’s time for the district to stop dragging out this process.”
OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 began bargaining with the school district in February. The chapter and the district are starting mediation on Dec. 18th at 4 p.m. OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 and supporters will be holding an informational picket and rally at 4 p.m. at the District Office (2510 1st Street, Tillamook.) Area leaders will join OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 on the picket line as they fight for a fair contract. Annie Naranjo-Rivera, Oregon State Director for the Working Families Party, said she hopes the Tillamook School District will focus on resolving the remaining issues during this mediation session. “As a parent and longtime Tillamook County community member, watching this dispute unfold has been heartbreaking. It’s time to respect the essential contributions of our classified school employees, many of whom are our friends and neighbors. The issues holding up a resolution are basic workers’ rights and I call on the Tillamook School District to bring this discord to an end. Enough is enough,” Naranjo-Rivera said.
